I have never boiled a skull plate before and am just wondering if using Sal Soda will discolor the antler burrs if they get into the boiling mixture? To remove all the blood and tissue from the skull plate is there anything else I need to do for a rack mount besides using the Sal Soda? Thank you.

the sal soda will most definately discolor the burrs and turn them white. Do this instead. Let the skull cap dry real good ( make sure you carved off most of the meat you can ) then take a propane torch and burn the film and meat until it gets discolored and then you can take your dremel tool and using a burring type bit , go all around the cap and clean it up. It is easier to do than it is to explain .
