Does anyone know if there if a process to cleaning driftwood to make it last. I was on a bear hunt in Maine this past week and I stoped a lake and found a nice peace of dirftwood I would like to use in my mount. If anyone knows can they please tell me the process thank you murr

I presure clean mine if they are muddy if not I sandblast them, if you want to bugproof put it in a container with 50% water and 50% mineral spirits about a week.

Alex has the right idea but rather than the mineral spirits, that can leave a residue, use alcohol. Sand blast it to get rid of all the soft stuff, if you don't you will be sorry! seal it with a thinned down shellac if you think sealing is necessary. Special pieces, that you find yourself are a lot more work than buying from a good supplier. But I do it too, for my own mounts.
