i am mounting my first squirrel - will i have nay problem inserting the (rigid) manniken into skin - if i am going to have a problem what is it?

I hope you did a dorsal Incision & have correct size form..you can always rasp It down If need be?
These are miserable tree rats to begin with and a dorsal cut only makes life that much more miserable for you. Case cut the rat. Then cut the legs off the form in wedges. Install the legs first. Then shove the body of the squirrel up the tub. The wedges will fall into place and you can pin them from the outside until they dry. This is especially useful for "nut holding squirrels" where you can increase or decrease the arm spread to hold the nut as needed. Then all you have to do is wire the tail and make that single line across the butt from ankle to ankle OR staple it and set him on moss or leaves to hide your handiwork.
