The EX part should tell you. Snake oil, baby oil, antifreeze, all BS. It doesn't work like that. Find someone who knows his asp from a hole in the ground.

hey george it worked.

Call me in a couple years and brag about it then. All you did was OIL a dry piece of skin. IT AIN'T TANNED YET, Rocketscientist. No wonder we make less than minimum wage.

But George is right. If you take a dry snake skin. apply baby oil. You now have a dry oily skin. baby oil, or other oils do not preserve the skin. They simply make a dry raw skin soft. the hide will break down. And fall apart over time. for now it may seem as though you have a piece of snake leather. But in time you will see there are no shortcuts.
When I go to Beardbusters Outfitters to guide for turkey. There is always someone willing to show clients how to make turkey fan mounts by spreading the tail out, pining it into place, then applying salt. Yes, it dries like a fan, and looks good. But they all are surprised when they have a big oil spot on their wall, and the bugs find the fan. Sometimes someone gets away with some homemade remedy then they swear it to be the gospel.
When you ask the advice of professionals and get a reasonable response why in heavens name would you try the suggestions of some narr do well. Then challenge the ones who have a lifetime of experience. Don't you think that if baby oil was a wonder cure for snake tanning George and myself, as well as all the other taxidermist would be using it.

No one here has any reason to lie to you. 90% of the advice given here is sound. The other 10% is probably good. It just may not conform to what I feel best. So when you chose to not accept it. Do so quietly. Or the next query you have may net you no response.
