Is it best to use a casted head on a walleye than the real one? I have good results with the real ones, but I,m worried if they might keep shrinking and grease ing out after say 3 to 5 years down the road .

Walleye are pretty forgiving, they can be cleaned very well, simply put on any fishhead, if its meat take it out, if you are in dought about it take it out. A quick plaster mold of the tongue, take it out. In smaller fish I leave them in. Even a Salmon can be done this way, if you fleshed the head out on your bird wheel.
I think reproductions are the route to go with fish..some fish like walleye and bass you maybe able to get by with skin mounts for them
but most fish are a problem and need to be reproduced
I never have a problem with warm water fish. ( carp being the exception) thoroughly fleshing the head will yield great results. I do a great Number of walleye every year, (living practically on Lake Erie) and have never had a problem with shrinkage, oil leaching, or smell. I do however use reproduction heads on trout, and salmon.
Hey thanks for the feed back on those heads. I think I'll stick to the real heads and maybe pay attention to cleaning them a bit more.I haven't had a problem yet so I'll stick with it. Again, thanks everyone for the feed back.
