Log Slab

Use whatever you want on the face and edge of slab to get the look you want, but it will be necessary to screw a 1/8 or 1/4 inch board to the back as all wood continues to dry as it ages. (sorry, nothing you can do about that) Keep the edge of your backing board 1 to 1 1/2 inches inside the perimeter of the slab & be generous with your screws as this should slow the eventual cracking of the slab. And should it crack it will keep the fissure tight and not let the slab separate.

thanks

Soak it

in bleach water overnight to kill any bacteria or burrowing insects that might be on it.
