Does it matter if the motor rotates clockwise or counterclockwise?

Whether you like the taste of bird fat or not. Best bet it to have it turning underneath and away from you so the fat it thrown down and against a splash shield.

Look at the way bird fleshers are built. those are normally clockwise. so reverse what you see for a counterclockwise motor.

If you are a beginner and just learning to use a wheel, it doesn't matter. Unless you ever use someone else's wheel. If you are used to using the wheel going clockwise it is awkward to use one going the other way. But you can do it.

The motor really turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE. We usually view them from in front of the motor and to us, the wheel is turning clockwise, but the motor ain't. That's what working on jet engines for 30 years does for you. You are the engine. American built jets turn counter-clockwise from the rear while British engines like the Rolls Royce turn clockwise from the rear. Just thought I'd share that tidbit of totally useless information with you.
