Brian, The thing I love about taxidermy is you don't need too much at all to do it. No big fancy shop or expensive equipment is necessary. You do need good lights to work by and a sturdy mounting stand to support the mount. Basic hand tools should be available and a few sharp knives of different design. Very important are good reference photos of the critters you will mount. Deer pictures taken up close can be had from magazines but to get real detail you should buy a set of good pictures. Other items that come to mind are a level, cordless drill, scaulpel, small rasp, calipers, tape measure, and I like the Stout Ruffer for pulling skin on the mannikin as well as scratching the surface of the form. Useing good quality mannikins and other materials is best. When you find a cheap form you are not always saveing as the results might not be as good. Good luck in this and remember to enjoy, Aaron H.
