I have a bobwhite quail that I am going to attempt. I have mounted 8 ducks and a Canada Goose. Are there any special considerations for a quail. I plan on wrapping a body and using the natural skull. Will I need to make a neck incision or can quail be inverted up to the base of the beak? Any hint/tips, etc. are greatly appreciated.

The head will invert easily. Be fairly gentle with the skin, but don't worry about it too much. They are tough for their size. The feathers will pull out pretty easily, so use an adjusting needle to taxi the skin. And, go just a little bit smaller when you wrap the body.
After doing a duck or goose a quail is a no-brainer. (IMO)
is the little styrofoam eggs they sell at craft stores in bags of 6 or 8 for a buck or so. You can squeeze or carve them to shape, they weigh veritably nothing and hold the small wire well.I've been using them for years and years and absolutely love them.
Jim,
The whole thign sounds pretty kinky! I remember my first quail... she was quite a bute! I body wrapped her, she body wrapped me... it was bliss. Bliss I tell you Jim! Just relax and let come what's natural and you'll be fine. Congratulations dude, major score!
P.S: you might want to video tape it!
