I just decided to preserve a squirrel hide I got yesterday. I stretched it then rubbed borax into the skin, I next put about 1/4 of an inch of borax over it. I have 2 questions:
1. Is this a good way to tan/preserve it?
2. How long should it stay like this?

It will be dry preserved. If it were ever to become wet it will rehydrate and rot. Tanning is a better way. Look in the tanning archives(orange button to the left)to get more information about tanning. Also you can see the tanning vs dry preserve debate.
