I have a question. I want to learn gameheads and a neighbor gave me a whiteail to work on. Now this head has been in the freezer for 1 year now, the ears were curled and I assume there is freezer burn. The ears have now thawed and they look like the head was just put into the freezer, lots of spring and flexibality to them, the head will take several hours to thaw so it can be caped. Since this head has been frozen for a whole year is it junk?, will it take a tan, and with the ears thawed will they be ok untill the rest of the head is thawed ? thanks for any info...Dave

Go ahead and skin it out you will only know if it is o.k. if it is to dryed and hard to turn (open,lips,ears,eyes,ect......)sometimes after you tan them they will soften up even more.
If the ears are thawed, get the cape unrolled and it will thaw faster.
Go in thru the mouth and skin the face out asap. I normally start skinning when the face thaws a bit. You will find out you dont have to wait for hours and hours.
Try brushing some stop rot on the insides of the ears, nose and lips, I hear it can help soften them up, plus help with problems of slow thawing.
I appreciate the help guys. A local shop told me it wouldn't take a tan and I should just throw away the head.
