Sure flesh thinner and learn to use a two part epoxy.

You have pulling and drumming, sand the form well, flesh the face and lips thin, then use the best hide adhesive on the market. You will not be able to move it once it sets. Epo-Grip cannot be beat.

I agree with JOhn C! That guy knows what hes talking about! I use a homemade rasp on my mannikins, {a forward facing wire wheel on a wooden handel} but you can buy a mannikin rasp from most suppiers. Take it easy on the face, you dont want to lose the muscle structure and veining. Thats where I usually switch to sand paper. Get all those nooks and crannies!

It can't pull if there's no tension

Steve,

John C IS right, but perhaps yours is a more simple problem. One that I've seen with some other fellers. I've seen where guys put the face on, tuck the lips then push the face skin back toward the neck as a way of smoothing out the skin. When the skin of the face, especially under the chin area, is pushed back that creates tension in the lip area. In other words the skin is already starting to pull on the lips. As this skin dries out it pulls harder causing seperation. I'd advise to smooth your skin out then push back on the skin (toward the lips) so that the skin stays relaxed near the lips. I pin up in the crack of the lips too... about one every half inch. I use Killer Glue. Works good for me. But I have no beef with what the other guys here are using.

By the way, are you oiling your skins before mounting? No oil= more shrinkage.

How are you prepping the lip slot. I've seen a guy that used a dremmel tool with like a 1/8 inch bit that he used to dremmel out the lip! I couldn't believe it. I "punch" out the lip line with my lip tucking tool, shimming my tuck tool at the corners to get it just a little more roomy than the rest of the lip. (Boy I can imagine what you guys are thinking with that choice of words!)
