Searched the archives, but can't find the exact answer! I am new to this, did a few dozen "study skins" of birds in college, and recently started my first real mount. It is a small barred owl (yes, I have the paperwork), and my question is this. I've never had to worry much about feather appearance, but now that this thing is on it's perch, I need to do some feather realignment. It has been mounted for 3 days now, so how long do I have to play with it until it becomes too dry to make a difference? Also, some of the feathers are laying correcly, but are "pulled" apart..can I slightly wet them and reshape them? The bird is actually a little wobbly on the perch, but I'm thinking when it dries more and loses some weight, it should stiffen up some? Thanks.
