I am new to taxidermy and about to do my first deer i would like to know what the proper thing is to use to build up the ear butts.... thanks for the help

i use critter clay in the ear butts and biuld up or feather out to fit the (look),good luck

You're a beginner... just pack the butt with that critter clay and sew up the back. Then squeeze and mold the buds from the outside. As you learn more, you can venture into other methods. This one works fine and you'll be pleased. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving buddy!
Practice seting a earliner several times, you will only need a bit more than the size of a golf ball.
