Hard call on bruised skin.

You maybe could have washed it out before salting. But after salted and pickled its hard to remove. It cases like that I just go ahead with the proccess. You may know where its at but noone else will. Flesh as thin as you can, but the skin will be a bit weaker in that area.

Don't worry... be happy

Had many a cape stained by blood. I always wash out my capes prior to fleshing and salting. Bruise blood stains in the hide is commonplace and if you care to, you could apply some of that blood-out stuff (never used it myself). But why? You tan the hide and it's done. You shave thinner as John said and it minimizes the stain. But in the end, that's all it is, a stain. No one will know but you and it don't mean sheet! It's like my wife's stretch marks. As long as she stays clothed in public, no one knows and it doesn't hurt her skin. Please don't tell her I said this!
