Before the cape or after or does it matter?
Return to Beginners Category Menu
If your dealing with a tubed cape you will need to put it on AFTER the hide is on the mannikin. But if the cape is split all the way down the back you can put it on before the hide goes onto the mannikin. hope this helps!
Is it pretty easy to mount a cape that has already been tanned? Could anyone give a brief synopsyse of this type of project?
Well....here is a brief synopsis of the mounting process:
After the cape has been tanned:
1. Re-hydrated the cape so its "wet"
2. Measure the cape
3. Order the mannikin
4. Prep the mannikin (cut the mouth slot, dremel out the nose, attach the antlers, clay in the eyes, cover the mannikin with hide past.
5. position the cape on the mannikin and start sewing
This is an extremely simplified brief synopsis, and there is a lot missing..................but the basics are there. And the answer to your question is "it all depends". It's not "pretty easy" to mount a deer and to make it look good. But it's real easy to mount one and have it look like @#$#! Jehosefus.
doesn't anybody use their own brain anymore? Some of these questions on here are just outright rediculous. Shelbyhunter use what the Good Lord gave you. Maybe you need to spend some time in the archives before you attempt to mount anything.
I am not trying to insult you Shelbyhunter, but questions like that make you look rather dumb. Sometimes it helps to think before you ask.
I see supperpig is feeling better.
Hello!I posted this in a beginners forum because I am a beginner. Maybe if I had as much sense as you, I wouldn't come here and act like a complete ass. Oh, wait! I have a lot more sense than you, so you must be the ass! By the way, if I didn't use my brain, I would just do this blindly without asking any questions to experienced people who have dealt with this kind of project! Anyone one else?
