Tree rats...

....does anyone know of any helpfull tools (homemade or not) to skin/split squirrels? I've done a few WT shoulder mounts and everything on these animals seem so small that normal tools might not be able to get in there.

Im a far cry from being an expert but I bought a perfect knife from WASCO and you couldnt ask for a better tool, for skinning and splitting a squirrel its all I use.

scalpel works well too

I use a #22 scalpel for skinning and splitting and a larger knife for fleshing...the scalpel works fine for fleshing, but they break easily. Just remember to use a new blade every squirrel, they dull quickly, too. Good luck.

I use a razor blade. That is all. Just a plain razor blade.
