mink fur/road kill

I know nothing about taxidermy.
Today, my friend and I came across what appears to be a mink hit by a car. The face is flattened but the rest is full and not yet run over (well, tomorrow may be a different story). Because we were debating on what the creature was, I took a picture. My friend went to internet and is certain it is a mink. I stroked it's fur and it is very soft.
Anyway, my question to you all is, if I go back and put this road kill in a plastic bag, how should I store it until I find someone who can tan and hide it? (is that the correct phrase? I want a piece of his fur because it's so soft and I had no idea we had mink in Massachusettes!) I am assuming the freezer would be ok but I don't want the fur ruined. None of my friends are willing to help me on this and say I am being gross.
Also, what (about) would it cost me to have someone do this awful task? Thanks in advance for any info and assistance on this grissley question...!

Hi Leslie the freezer is a good place for the mink you found and it's probably gonna cost you around $50. to get it tanned. A small price for a beautiful wall hanging. I think your choice to make something of the animal than to throw it in the trash is much more honorable! Well done.

wheres it from

Ya'll dont have mink in massachucets. It probably escaped (or was "freed" by PETA or someone else like them) from a fur farm. Freezer is great. I dont think it would cost 50 bucks tho, probly more like 25 but I'm in Texas, stuffs cheaper here. Jim is right, thats alot more considerate and conservative, and honourable at that, to make use of it. Your friends are just wierd.

Alex
