That's a method we used shortly after earliners in plastic came out. It never looked that great. Bondo in itself is not a good adhesive for holding earliners. It's a filler, remember, and you'll be better served by using an epoxy based product.
If i get a good epoxy glue and put it on fairly thick it would be best. What kind does most folks use? I have some good polyuritane glue made by elmers that says it will stick to anything including leather, what do you think. THANKS DP
Lowes and the other chains sell 5 or 10 minute epoxy that works well. I use Epo-Grip Liquid Fast Set as it's sold by volume and cheaper as such. If you are sold on the Bondo method, they have a brand new product called Ear Magic. This is a super alternative to the Bondo method and should become the product of choice to those who don't use earliners. It's pure, clear epoxy with imbedded micro fibers of fiberglass. It sticks to anything but you must remove all the oil from the ear skin and you can't use epoxy solvents to dry the ears as they might adversely effect the epoxy resin. You can add color to match the species and you can actually shape the ears after the resin kicks off.
