getting smell out

how do i get the smell out of a hide i was told to dip it in gasoline then just work it over a board till its soft well its soft alright with the plesant smell of gass please tell me how i can get the smell out with out getting the hide wet

varsol or something like that Is better varsol can be use to degrease fish you know?You can buy It In any hardware store

You need to find out why the hide smells.Just covering up the smell will not solve the problem that caused it to smell.Is it mildew or was the hide not tanned properly.Just a thought.

The thing smells like gas because i put it in gas like the instructions i got from some site told me to. Now it smells like gas and i cant get it out i want a way to get it out wiht outmoisture will someone please help me
