Squirrel Teeth

I was wondering on mounting a fox squirrel using a Ellzey form. Do I need to use the squirrels real teeth? The position is climbing down head up. If I do need to use the real teeth do i use epoxy to set the teeth in the form? Thanks, Ed

You can cut the teeth out of the skull, but be very careful as they shatter easily. Then you can implant them with epoxy in the form. What I've done is to cut the nose off the form and then hollow the bottom jaw of the form out. I skin the nose down to the edge of the cartilage and then cut off the upper jawbone to keep the teeth attached. With the bottom, I skin the jaw out to the front of the bottom lip and then cut the lower teeth and jawbone off. I use DP on tree rats (sorry if that offends some of you). I inject the meaty nose and lip areas and put a spot of potters clay in the carved out recesses. I mount the face and push the bottom teeth into the cavity I formed and then set the nose and upper teeth into the clay. I use 6 gage wire pins I make and push them through the nostril holes to align them with the form.

When the mount dries, you'll have some shrinkage at the injected parts. I use black Apoxie and a terry cloth towel to form the nose and texture it.

What i do is leave an opening for the teeth and when it's dry put some apoxie sclupt in and sculpt the teeth. Keep the real skull for reference. It's really easy and looks good to.
