How can I make Bark Extract? ...for do-it-your-selfers book

Submitted by Dennis Walrod on 12/24/2003. ( peg@madbbs.com ) 12.39.93.138

I'm working against a deadline to update my 1983 book about deer, "More Than a Trophy": about how to field dress, skin, butcher, make sausage, make soap from the tallow, tie trout streamers from the tail hair, etc., etc., and I'd like to include something about Bark Tanning. Please, anyone out there still know how to make a tannin extract from bark, leaves, etc.?
Free book to the most detailed response! I don't know if I can find my way back to this Site, so pleeeeease email me? PEG@MADBBS.COM

Merry Christmas,

There are so many great chemicals out there for tanning! But, I understand why you are looking for info on bark tanning; it would make a good addition your book. I have sent you some information that, I think, will prove very helpful.
