I was just wondering what the measurement preceding the w/t, b/t, and mule deer capes mean? For example, a 22" Mule deer cape? And what does it mean if it is tight behind the ears? I checked the archives and can't find anything about this. Thanks in advance,

What this means is the 22" is the measurement taken right behind the ears on the deer. You take the measerment after you have taken the cape off. You do this to get a measurement in order to see what size of form you need. You also need to take a eye to nose measerment. Hope this helps

.... But not everyone measures the capes the same way. Some people measure the cape "three" inches down. And some measure the cape over the hair, on a northern cape that can add as much as two inches to the "correct" measurement.
As Jim said, the measurement should be taken after the cape is off and then taken right behind the ears. The second(larger) measurement can be taken three inches dow to determine the swell.
Thank you guys very much... makes sense now.

do you take nose to eye after cape is removed to.where would you start nose from 'with nose on cape.
The nose to eye is while the hide is on the scull before fleshing. Click the orange search button to the left for questions like this in the future
