the reason you cannot use dp on a hide after it has been salt dried?

Rehydrate skin, wash all the salt off then dp tumble mount.
You will never get the salt out of the hide by rinsing. Put it in a washing machine and run it with a bit a ERA on heavy duty, then tumble it dry you can then DP it.
