I laid a deer head out last night to thaw out at about eight oclock. It usally takes them to days to thaw due to the temp this time of year hear. This one was a small doe and it had complty thawed by 10:30 pm so i went ahead and skinned it out. but I did not have time to to turn and split. I am just a beginner and it takes me a while to turn and split and like i said i did not have time to finish to go to the next step so i put it back in the freezer. will this hurt anything? thanks josh

the more you thaw and refreeze, the more you risk the chance for bacteria, and thats what causes slippage. Try to set yourself a timetable so when it thaws you have time to flesh and split at one time. Remember you only need to get the big pieces of meat off and split, turn and then salt ASAP!
