If I'm krowtanning a coyote, will I need to shave (thin) the skin? When referring to the krowtann directions, when they say "fleshing" do they really mean fleshing and shaving? Hope this makes a little sense

If you flesh the yote down good, removing amm flesh, and fat. removing the fat before tanning is a must. as the tan will not take through the fat. A yote hide is so thin there is no need to thin after proper fleshing. Hope this helps/
you dont need to thin coyote hide but you do need to flesh it - semantics - if i am using krowtann and slop it in the solution for 2-3 days - degrease and then i 'shave ' with the edge of a coarse grining wheel - this works better for me (especially with depth control) than my dakota flesher - another way i use is rough split everything and salt overnite - then clean up and finsh splitting - again using grinder stone - apply dp and mount - no problem either way
