Artificial Turkey Heads

Submitted by Chris on 02/27/2004 at 21:58. ( )

13 years ago I had my first Turkey mounted. It was the 2nd turkey my friend had mounted and he used an artificial head. The mount looks good but the head does not look real. Since becoming interested in Taxidermy I've noticed some of the newer heads are really life like. Is it possible to change the head? If it matters it is a Flying Mount. Thanks.

That's a LONG time for rehydrating a bird skin.

I've be afraid it would disintegrate when it was wet again. I wouldn't recommend it. Get a new turkey and transplant the beard and legs/spurs if it's that important to you.
