i'm not talking about the form, i'm talking about the base , i mean the sort of panel on whoch is fixed the mounted head, in french it has a different name for the base on which we fix the head only, it's the "écusson" whereas the base on which we put an animl mounted on is the "socle" or "base"
really you would like to see my glossary ? it could be good, so you could correct me if I have made mistakes

to bob m : i'm not a man and i'm sorry i used the french word ! i thought it was the same in english :) by the way can someone tell me how do you name the mounted head alone (not the whole head only its carcass) ? sorry if my englsih is bad....


to bill thanks i think it's that, before i thought panel was used like base , it was also used for whole mounts

Could you be asking about a cape? The carcass is the part we throw away (unless it's fresh and I'm hungry).

And yes, I'd love to see the glossary you've compiled. My french is a little rusty but I know a little. Besides,I'm looking for a new hobby.
