ok went to archives about a dark pheasant beak after it dries some maintain their original beak color however i have 2 that are a purple blackish look. what should i paint the beaks with? someone said Van Dykes pheasant beak. and someone also mentioned taking the sheath off of the beak bone and painting that white then putting the sheath back on- the birds are already mounted so that may be difficult to do. what other paints are there i could use? help me out guys. thanks

Are you sure that they are not the original color. I raised pheasants and alot of them had a purple hugh around the nostril area. There is no way that I would take the beaks off.

Look it up in the bird section.

Its covered several times.

Searched pages from www.taxidermy.net for Pheasant beak color. Results 1 - 10 of about 26. Search took .34 seconds

See how easy it is.

hey man i searched the results as i stated in my original message. and i wrote down what i found out. i wanted some other ideas or opinoins about how to fix the pheasant beak coloration, not some smart ass remark from someone thinking that i didnt bother looking a problem up in the archives.

Kapster, you seem to have that base covered yourself

IF you had bought a Breakthrough Bird Finishing Encyclopedia, you'd already HAVE a paint schedule for painting pheasant beaks.

thanks george
