what is the trick to getting the leather laid down flat, without any creases? is it just the shape of my mold?

what I have done: the horns are screwed down to a half inch plate and then styrofoam glued down on top of this and shaped by hand. then i will screw this to my plaque. this a simple way i beleive that is commomly done.? please correct me if i am wrong.

thanks

Depending on the curve of the foam.

You may need to wet the leather to allow the forming.

I assume you made a round antler base, and using a sweade like deer leather, in other words something thin and pliable. Lay it on top, cut out the antler holes, then pull and fold behind back board till there is no creases around the bottom where the leather is folded around the back and stapled. Taxidermy Today Magazine had a great article on this subject a couple months ago.
