What are you tanning? Perhaps somethings are more easily damaged by the strenghth of the tan. In all honesty I've 'accidently' placed thing with skin side out occasionally, usually hog hides as Krowtann is phenomenal with them but have also done small mammals. I have never had any problems - knock on wood perhaps. As long as you're still making sure that you're stirring regularly and not leaving the bottle of water (weight) only in one area. You will easily be able to see the different when it is tanned as not. It will just look different.
You read the directions correctly? If you go to WASCO's homepage and click on Krowtann2000 they have the instructions listed and it specifically says "3. Leave the skin, flesh side out, in the tan for 3 to 4 days. Each day lift the skin out of the tan, and return it to the tan in a new position to ensure that the tan is reaching all parts of the skin. Always use eye and skin protection (safety goggles and gloves) when handling skins in solution. " The sheet I got with my bottle also says the same thing.
thanks folks,flesh side out..sorry to inconvence anyone...Tim
