rough surface on flesh side of lion

after salting ,pickling, beam fleshed, tanning, oiling , and drying for three days I put my mountain lion in the tumbler with saw dust for 45 minutes, when I pulled it out the flesh side was really rough looking. What can I do to smooth it out and make it more of a swade look? will sanding or a wire wheel on a drill clean it up ,or does any one have any suggestions on how to smooth it out?

If you want to make it look good - try this!

Try sanding it to bring up a soft suede look. Put it on your fleshing beam and sand it nice amd clean. for a Mountain Lion I'd suggest using a 80 or 100 grit.

The trick is - to use a B&D reciprocal sander - not an orbital or belt. Treat it just like fleshing a skin - use your body to hold it onto the end of the beam and lay into it with the Sander. The taunter it is, as you push away from yourself, the better cut the Sander will take!
