I have done about fifteen wt deer this year, without any hair problems
but then i get to this one deer, the customer brought it to me after
he already took it to another taxidermist, it came skinned frozen and
a paper with all the measurements, the other taxi. was going to be a
year or so before he got it back, and me being a fresh taxi i wasnt
backed up and would be quicker so he brought me the deer, so when i get close to doing it i went ahead and order the mannikin with the
rest of my deer that i did the skinning and measuring, so i would
not have to thaw it out and measure it, I used his measurements so all
the mannikins I need are ordered, so when i get to this deer later I
fleshed and tanned in a auto-tanner, and when i went to mount it the
hair just started falling out just below the ear next to the jaw and to top that the hide was like two or three inches off of the mannukin
ordered,
Lesson learned about measuring, do your own!
But the hide slipped on both sides of the neck in the same place. Why?
Could the other taxi abused it first?
Is logical for bacteria to grow on a fresh wet tanned cape?
Any info on bacteria would help
Thanks

question is: God only knows - it will be hard for you to blame the other guy - if it was me i would order another cape and eat this one - lesson learned albeit the hard way
