Anti-Taxidermy

Submitted by Rembrant on 04/17/2004 at 17:14. ( ) 66.74.238.123

Killing wilderness animals for pleasure is HORRIBLE!Taxodermists are aweful people and i do not beleive in it at ALL. Why kill an innocent deer? For its fur.. for fun.. that is just WRONG WRONG I TELL YOU.You should not kill an animal to hang its head upon your fireplace. What do you think that dead animal could be doing right now? It could be a father or mother, it could be running freely in the woods playing and having fun, but no it's dead and its head is on your wall. I am telling you this sport or practice is just wrong and animals need to have fredom just as us humans do. How would you like it if some killed you for your skin and your head? We are animals just like the deer and buffalo. So SAVE THE ANIMALS!

One Question

This response submitted by Wildwood on 04/17/2004 at 17:40. ( ) 206.229.235.233

So what your saying is its alright to kill domesticated animals, but not "wilderness animals" what a hypocrite. Please start taking your medicine again before you hurt somebody. Get a life.

I would be very upset.........

This response submitted by Meat Eater on 04/17/2004 at 17:45. ( ) 12.217.9.230

........if someone killed me only for my skin and head. I would hope they would kill me for my tasty backstraps, and all of the other fine cuts of meat that I would provide a family......all while
obeying the laws.

You "tree huggers" are so "IN THE DARK". You don't care what the truth is........you don't even care if you are right or wrong. You all just like hearing yourselves talk.

You are TALKING..........but you are NOT saying anything.

Oh well, I like there ignorant posts, it gets me fired up. Nothing like making a imbecile angry. OH well whatever makes them sleep good at night. Too bad they don't exert there energy on something worth while like curing cancer or visiting old people or something.

I'll quit killing and eating animals when they start coming in skins that are not filled with meat.

Hey Rembrant! (LOL)

This response submitted by Susan on 04/17/2004 at 19:21. ( ) 165.247.172.224

It is a pure work of "ART". Whether it's a mount, a fir coat(for those who like those), or my crockpot full of a tender cut of deer roast dressed-up with carrots-celery-taters-and pearl onions....hey this sounds like I need to go "put that on" for tomorrow....

We had some delicious cubed-deer steak w/gravey, mashed potatoes, fresh cooked mustard greens, and fried/creamed corn and sliced maters and dried apple pie for desert w/homemade vanilla ice cream on top-for supper last night. And before I slip-up....that slow cooked tenderloin for breakfast with red-eye gravey, grits, scrambled eggs, and fresh yeast rolls just melted in my mouth this morning.

You need to remember what our forefathers did to survive...and realize that the deer population needs "thinned out" because there is less and less natural habitat for them to live, because mankind is so rapidly populatin'. IF they're not "thinned out" then disease could wreak havoc within their populations, and, could even drive the species to extinction? Hunting IS A SPORT. How you conduct yourself-and put to use- the "rewards of a learned skill"(whether it's hunting for Deer, turkey, birds, squirrels, etc.- you must learn the intricacies of each type of hunt.) shows how much responsibility and practicality you use in your everyday life. I love a good steak as good as the next person, but if I have to learn how to "shop in the natural supermarket"(woods), buy a new outfit(camo) to do so, I'm gonna use as much of my harvest as possible. (Don't forget the 4x4 W/ trailer, four-wheeler, gun, ammo, scope, tree stand, tri-pod, etc.) How many hunters do you know that have hunted for 10 years or longer and have YET to even get to site-in on a Deer? I know several. If you can afford to choose to eat escargot(snails) or caviar(fish eggs), go right ahead-I'm not gonna ridicule you and make you feel bad about it. BUT I'm not gonna share MY venison with you, because all it'll do is increase the demand for this redneck delicacy...If you want some ...GO HUNT YOUR OWN! IF you don't want any...then don't keep trying to trod all over my huntin' rights(that I've fought, earned, bought, and PAID FOR!).
Anyone for deer meatloaf?......Bon Appetite! -Susan

What do you think that dead animal could be doing now...

Hey Randal....

This response submitted by Susan on 04/17/2004 at 20:39. ( ) 165.247.184.172

Have you ever tried Deer Stroganoff? How's about deer sausage on a biscuit(with an egg is good too!)?
I like a thin slice (3/4 in.) of deer steak covered with fresh mushrooms in gravey and a baked potato on the side stuffed with thin shaved tenderloin(grilled), onions, cheese, butter, and sour cream.
Or you could even try this twist on the steak; Take full-size green beans(strung of course if needed) about 4 to a bunch and wrap with 1/2 strip of bacon and layer them over the top of your "thin" steak in an oven dish. Then mix 1/2&1/2 brown sugar and your favorite steak sauce and cover top of steak/beans to cook slowly in the oven till done. MAN I can feel the pounds tryin' to ketch up with me!
Any more ideas? - I mean this IS a way to constructively use our harvest. Just don't get me started on turkey...Just think ..how many of THOSE hot wangs could YOU eat? -Susan

I bet this person Lives in a city or suburb, and they only go out when they want to exploit the natural environment for themselves. SUV's et. not that there is anything wrong with a little 4x4in, I think it is better to hunt an animal that buy a slab of meat. (It tastes better) well got a mount to finnish cannot waste time on this fool.

I think its the same person again. Same references, same repetitive style, same goading approach. Look, when people are free like you say, and animals truly frolic in the woods, THEN we will quit. For now though, we arent in that Utopia, so long live taxidermy. Itll outlast you, anyway.

Hey there peaches, please tell me you are in the 3rd grade...if not maybe you can find an adult ed center in your area to help out with your english since you can't seem to master spell check. And by the way as with your last post, taxidermy is not spelled using the letter "o". If you forget it is only on this page a dozen times or so. You might also try some eye drops, it will help to wash the bark out of your eyes.

This response submitted by cuttincrew on 04/18/2004 at 02:09. ( meatman1@myway.com ) 207.192.210.47

I cut meat for a living, and own my own deer processing business. I also raise a few hogs, chickens and rabbits for consumption so you can pretty much figure that I have no sympathy for anti hunters and animal rights activists. What Im wondering is, do organizations like PETA, etc. actually appreciate uninformed and ignorant people trying to "help" them out in furthering their agendas? It seems to me that if you want to be taken seriously, you would discourage morons from associating with you. Oh, and Susan, try grinding some pork boston butts in with your deer and seasoning it with Italian seasoning sometime. That makes the best d**n gravy to ever cover a biscuit! Ted

LMAO Ted

This response submitted by George on 04/18/2004 at 08:41. ( georoof@aol.com ) 205.188.116.142

I hope you meant your comments as rhetorical questions. OF COURSE they appreciate the help. PETA exists only because of the mental flaws caused by vegetarian diets. How else could someone make a paste out of soybean flour, fry it in vegetable oil, and try to convince someone that it "tastes just like hamburger". Ever seen a soyburger "medium rare". LMAO. They're all idiots and this one is just proving the point.

Thankx Ted!

If you keep talking like that, one of the anti minded people, might have a weak moment. If they were to try one of your recepies, WAALLAA!, we will have one more hunter to contend with, and then, I hope they don't go and spread the word. Let alone, become a taxidermist, and compete for all those rich clients we all have.

P.S. you can email me all of your wild game recepies.

and now for you Glenn:
Black Bear roast, in a large crock pot.
2 shots of olive oil
2 shots of Turkey 101
1 1/2 lbs of black bear roast cut meat.
1 whole yellow oinio, cut up into 1" pieces
2 cans of cut mushrooms
2 cans of diced tomatoes
1 can of skinned whole tomatoes
1 can of lima beans
1 can of V 8 vegetable juice
Now place on top of all that:
1 teaspoon of ground Cayenne Red Pepper
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of pepper
Turn crock pot on High in morning, at noon turn it down to simmer, at night rush home, because if I don't, it might be gone.
Boil some brown rice to go with this, some home made bread, and last but not least, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, invite and anti, one bite of this, and they will become, an post_anti, if there is such a thing.

Susan,

This response submitted by Glen Conley on 04/18/2004 at 11:56. ( g.conley@verizon.net ) 67.200.29.107

send a Carbon Copy of the recipes to me when you send them to Randal!

Randal, you didn't send me all your contact info with the recipe! I also need the website address or addresses, you want me to link to.

If anyone else wants to submit fish and game recipes, check out what we are doing with the recipe sections on hidetanning.net, no vegetable dishes please.

Hello everyone. I apolgize for my ignorance, the truth is that I do not know much about taxidermy. Before I put this post I only knew one side of taxidermy. I saw the side of killing animals for their hunt. The reason why I put this post up was becuase I was to embaressed to have one saying "Can Some One Please Inform Me A Little On Taxidermy." Anyways thank you everyone for your responses and thanks for teaching me a little about taxidermy. But feel free to keep adding posts because my motto is, The More the Merrier!

Thank you for coming back and making a very humbling post. And we didn't even have to feed you a wildgame dinner, lol.

I don't know what state you live in, but most states have taxidermy associations. Every year they hold a convetion and competion, if you ever have a chance to go, it will open your eyes more, to taxidermy and the wonderful people involved.

In taxidermy we say, "There is no Stupid Questions".

Game and Animal Management

This response submitted by John on 04/18/2004 at 22:46. ( ) 24.174.144.237

Did you actually think that hunters went out and killed just for the hides and horns? Even if it is considered a trophy hunt it is because the herd needs to be thinned of the older and of course larger so called trophy animals. If we do not provide game management the animals will not survive at such a rapid pace. We are animals also and there is a natural order to hunting. So often the trophy hunters will take the animal to the processor and tell them to donate all of the meat to a food bank. A good sized deer will feed many people. We have to manage our resources or the animals will suffer disease and that to me is horrible to see any animal suffer. Animals that are hunted by responsible law abiding hunters DO NOT SUFFER. Thanks for listening.

For all you "anti's" out there. Hunting isn't just for fun. Most people like myself like to go out to be in the woods and not sit on my lazy butt all day and complain about what other pople do for a hobby. You criticize for what we do but do you not eat meat from the deli...IT'S THE SAME THING AS EATING WILDERNESS ANIMALS OR HUNTING THEM. YOu honestly all need to stop complaining and get a life or maybe look in the mirror and say to yourself why am I complaining when you are never going to change something. YOu don't even know the reason why people hunt for themselves do you. Maybe they just want to go and sit in the woods and get away from everything. You ever hear the saying think before you speak?

as the titile says, basically im a meat eater, i could never give up meat, i know that... but what i want to say is i have the utmost respect for anyone who has made a stand for nature. whether they have chained themselves up to trees to save them or whatever, as that is what they believe in, well fair play to you for standing up and defending nature, nature can not defend itself. i would love to have the sheer guts and determination that you animal and tree devotees have. i bow to you!

it is a shame that democracy and the freedom of speech is not acceptible on this particular board by certain postees, well im not even an american and even i know that it is against the american constitution not to accept the rights of others....

and i have a sneaking suspicion that this post will be followed up by idiocism and vile comments, but fear not i will rise above it, those who cannot reply without taunts and jibes need to look to the dictionary for inspiration, for there are many other words that can be used to defend their side of the debate which would actually make them seem a little more intelligent than what they actually are.

thankyou, i bid you farewell!
