Completing Rehydration and mounting?

I purchased a tanned deer cape.
It's hard. Would someone help me by explaining how do I rehydrate the skin for sewing and preparation for mounting?
Do I refreeze it if I need more time during sewing?

lotsa good posts in the archives. Search: rehydrate dry tanned capes.

It will tell you what you need to know.

No need to freeze if you have to finish sewing later, if it is actually tanned anyways. I assume you already have it on the mount at that point, right? It should be pliable and moist but not wet. Just put a garbage bag over the head/body and it will not dry out.
Look into wet tanning versus dry tanning and you won't have to rehydrate. Also try to find a nice block of time that you can complete the actaul mounting process. It shouldn't take that long. I am always nervous around any hide that still has moisture. Start letting it dry asap.
