Red Fox Fleshng

I have skinned a red for out and tanned in auto
tanner, I prefleshed all red meat etc. off but after
tanning i have some brown stuff still on there , i didnt
realize how frigle fox skin is i cut a lot of holes so
realy dont wont to flesh again will this brown substance
hurt any thing (its kind of like the clear stuff on the
skin before tanning, its slimy and brown)?

I'll give you a tip. Use toilet paper and it will SCAT(LOL). Sorry Greg. Too many lacquer fumes today.

on the leather. It is pretty difficult to remove this membrane on a red fox's belly without putting a hole or two in it. You can take a bird defleshing wheel and remove most of it. I would try to remove as much as possible, but a little bit here and there isn't going to make or break a mount.

i did a grey fox wall hanging. it was my first one. it had the same thing. after tanning i oiled it and let it dry. then broke the hide and sanded it with sand paper. it took 3 or 4 times sanding. the end result was great. sanding also makes the leather(hide) nice and soft. hope this helps. good luck. bob
