Potassium Permanganate?

The potassium permanganate that yo guys (& gals) are using to stain antlers with, is it the same as the stuff they use in ponds? Or is that some totally different stuff? Thanks!

It is used in ponds to control gill parasites and other bacteria.

Potassium Permanganate

It is also used to clean rust out of water softeners, and will remove rust from any hard water stain in the washing machine, sink,water taps ect. A full service plumbing supply should have it in stock.
