But boredom comes when you're too lazy to task yourself with more difficult projects. My kids, my grandkids and now the GREAT grandkids all complain that they're "BORED". I won't BORE you with stories of my childhood where I never had time to be BORED, but I'd bet you seldom go outside to ride a bicycle, swim, run for the fun of it, hunt or fish. You don't because you depend on others to keep your mind occupied. Who do they depend on? YOU for the same things. So why not get some initiative that uses your body in conjunction with your mind. PlayStations, computer games, or phone access don't cut it. You're 17 with the whole wonderful world in front of you. Forget the artificial intelligence and the artificial people you might meet on the Internet.

Now I ALSO KNOW that your immediate reaction is, "What does that old buzzard know about anything". Guess what? That's the same reaction I had when my parents told me that. You aren't reinventing the wheel here and you're no different from anyone else in the entire world. You've just confined yourself to your snug little environment and need to get up, get out, and begin to enjoy life. I'm over 40 years ahead of you, so whatever you say or think right now, I want you to remember at age 60 what you did at age 17. Make it good memories.

Are you confined for some reason.............

say, such as a handicap which prevents your going & doing? Even if not, and you simply refuse or cannot go out, you are here, why not look into the world of taxidermy? There are some outstanding women artists here and abroad and many, many things to learn. Instead of wasting away doing nothing, educate yourself instead. George is correct though,if at all possible go out and do, even if it something as simple as a walk! Don't get yourself in the habit of just lounging around doing nothing as it may effect the way you do things for the rest of your life! The longer you wait the harder it is to get motivated!
Good Luck

Or is this...

Or is this just some pervert posing as a teen age girl to get other people to enter a fraudulent correspondence 'thing'. Gotta be ready to think of all possible situations and in this day in age and on the net... that's a distinct possibility. Am I the only one that thinks of ALL the places on the net and with the tonnes of chat programs available.. that a 17 year old girl posts on a taxidermy site looking for pen pals? How many 17 year old girls nowadays even call them 'pen pals'? Just sounds odd...

Have to agree

I guess it's that "Helpful nice guy syndrome" again. One would like to think that the individual who posted is genuine, but in todays world I cannot dispute your thoughts. I guess I looked at it as if an individual was bored why not investigate an out of the ordinary site such as this? One can only speculate in this type of situation ey?
For what it's worth.

Bored at 17

This response submitted by Mike on 05/27/2004 at 10:30. ( ) 64.12.116.143

I am 16. And I never find Myself bored. My dad is a taxidermist. I help him out when Things are busy during deer season. That keeps me from being bored for a few months. Most of the year I keep myself busy with my lawn mower business. I Go to farm, and Implement auctions, and buy old riding lawn mowers. Then I fix them up, and sell them. I have bought as many as 7 mowers for a hundred dollors, and made three good wprking mowers out of them. which I sell for around two hundred fifty dollors each. I love it. Not only does it give me something to do. But I make money at the same time. It's a matter of motivation. I do not need someone to entertain me. And I have the means to entertain Myself. I hane a 1947 farmall super A with all the atachments. I can haul wood from the back lot with my own equipment. Or mow with it, plow disk, and plant my own garden. By the way, I sell the best Sweet corn in the county.
No My life is not consumed with work. I have a 16 foot Checkmate boat with a 115 HP evenrude. My older brother hauls it to the lake and we fish, or water shi. Take my friends and cousins tubing. Sometime I take my dad Steelhead fishing. He love it. Bordom is the effects of an Idle mind. and no one else can fill your mind. you need do do it for yourself. Dreem a dreem, and make it come true for yourself. you wont be bored My dad told me this when I was a child. He tought me one thing above all else. Life is what you make it, and you need to start now. It is great to live a childs life. but the habbits you get as a kid stay with you all your life. unless you are wealthy, you will have to work your whole life. No sence hating it. Much better to learn to like hard work, and enjoy your free time. Than it is to avoid work, and have little real enjoyment. This is the secret to not being bored. It is also the secret to success and Happiness.

Ditto what Mike said and others

Im with these guys too much time idle time and too many conveniences is what makes boredom for kids these days. When I was younger we always found something to do Fishing, hunting, biking, swimming and eventually taxidermy for me consumed my time and still does. We take too mant things for granted from our youth. Dang I wish I was 17 again life was good and simple back then. Look forward to work, mortgage payments and bills galore when you get older. Have fun now and enjoy the outdoors because time is ticking and the older you get the harder it gets for funtime, Mark
