Just finished maceration on a bear skull and I noticed that as its drying all the canine teeth are splitting! Why? Where did I go wrong? This is my fiftenth skull but by far the largest. 31 inch brown bear out of Alaska. I haven't even degreased or whitened yet. This is the first time this has happened and I don't want it to happen again. Help!

Type in "teeth crack" and it will give you numerous reasons your teeth may have cracked as well as various ways to correct the problem once it has occurred. Without proper preparation followed by a controlled environment without large fluctuations in heat and or humidity, most canines with crack. Proper preapartion includes drying the specimen slowly IMHO.
