fuzzy turkey feathers

I am doing a turkey fan tail mount on a store bought panel. What do you do about the fuzzy fine feathers at the base of the tail. I believe they are the bases of the second, shorter row of feathers. Do you leave them on, trim them off, or what? thanks.

I always leave one row of feathers in front of the fan to fill that void for presentation. If you cut the tail off at the oiler gland, you'll be left with just that row.

that area in with a short row of feathers hot glued in place at the tail base. I usually save tail bases from other birds and cut off a bunch of individual feathers that are similar. I then trim about 8-9 so they look good and lay this extra row over the exposed hair feathers then hot glue inplace... They come out looking much better..
