Either that or they don't know squat about taxidermy. Any "FLESHING MACHINE" will flesh a hide if the blades and guards are set properly.

Can a round knife flesh or simply shave?

Hi Kim,

After 35 years with a fleshing machine I can guarantee you that it can flesh. The way I do it is to skin the cape, turn the ears, nostrils, eyes and top lip then salt generously and let the wather drip out by laying the skin at an angle. I never let it get super dry because it's longer to rehidrate it. Ten days before I want to mount, I put it in a phormic pickling solution, a week later it is very easy to flesh. It's like a hot knife in buter.

You both flesh and shave at the same time and save 30 to 60 minutes.
I recommend adjusting the bite of the blade so you must take two passes and super impose them like a shingle roof (half of one and half of the other). Check the pictures on our web site: www.fleshing.ca It's all explained and demonstrated in our video.

Hope this will help a few save time and make more profit,

Gerry
