i talked to a taxidermist over in africa about buying a couple of skins, they are salt dried, he sells skins all the time on ebay, but i was wondering if i am going to have any problems receiving them through customs and all, i dont have any kind of license, could someone please tell me how this works. he is sending them by airmail if this has anthing to do with it. they shouldnt weigh over 10 pounds or so and he has all of the permits.

If you truly want the hides, contact your favorite tannery and ask if they have an import license. If they do, the hides can be shipped directly to the tannery for a nominal fee. Have the outfitter tag the hides FOR YOU so that the tannery will be expecting them by your name and can apply the appropriate permits and charges to you. Otherwise, they might be refused.

so...

It must not be against the law where HE is. Only Americans suffer such indignities. LOL

what about

i heard somewhere that if the skins were tanned or sprayed for bugs or something then they would ship them to you without any problems, i dont know of any tanneries around oklahoma, and would most likely have to pay for shipping from the tannery. so it would probably be best if he could spray them or tan them but im worried about the skins being ruined by their tanning processes.
