Hello Everyone
I decided to take on casting insects for my friends son. I went and purchased the latex mold builder and built my molds. But when I went and purchased the liquid plastic casting resin at michaels along with the catalyst, When i got it home i noticed all the warnings and that it is severly toxic. I have animals and occasionally small children running around my house and I am very scared to use or have something so toxic (we all know how cats, dogs and kids are!) plus the whole casting process is something that little kids want to take part in, and I wouldnt want them to if they could get hurt. Does anyone know of maybe a clear epoxy or anything that will work as well as the resin and not be toxic? I really hope there is something out there! because the whole concept seems really fun!

Unfortunatly most of the stuff we play with is going to be toxic. As long as your kids don't eat the stuff they should be just fine. I would make sure you area is well ventalated (open a door) and if they are going to do any mixing or handeling of the resine have them where rubber gloves. Don't use epoxie that is a real bad idea!
