I got a skull that has been cut to short. What is the best thing to shim with?

But since I use Bondo for all my skull caps, many times I'll mix a batch HOT with some Cabosil and fiberglass chop. I'll set the ball under the brain cavity and then hold the antlers like I want them until it kicks. Then I'll use Bondo and Cabosil to recreate the live skull tissue and shape. Others use potters clay the same way, but my gasoline ass likes something substantial that I can drill and sink a screw into.

I would agree with George on a cap that is severly cut short, but if it's only 1/4 to 3/8 short or less, just shim with cedar shims found at any hardware store or lumber yard, made of cedar or white wood, screw the cap down with 4 or more sheet rock or heavier screws, then break them off at the form line and smooth with mache. Never had a problem with wobbly antlers using this technique.
