I have tanned a nice deer hide no hair slippage at all and this was my first one, but my question is "the hide came out stiff what is the easiest possible way to break a hide without machinery?" I would like to be able to drape it over the couch.

Breaking a hide without machinery and "easy" can never be used in the same sentence. Click on the orange Icon to your left that says "SEARCH" and type in "Breaking a hide".
