..on my two most recent creations.
A Grey Squirrel and a Yellow Perch:
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v314/AMCTaxidermy/Taxidermy%20Mounts/
I have a picture of each up there. I just wanted some opinions on the two mounts, as far as how good/bad they look from the pros perspective here. Hopefully I will have my lisence by years end so I can do this professionally, but as of now its a hobby I just got back into after about 3 years of absence from it...but anyway, just lemme know what you think of them
I will probably add more to that page later on as I complete more throughout the month...

Adam, if you're truly a beginner, that's some very nice work.
The perch seems washed out by the gloss on it and the only thing I noticed was that the fins seemed thick and non-transparent. I'd suggest Tuf-Fin and silkspan along with feathering the edges. Your paint schedule didn't seem bright enough for a yellow perch and the fins weren't orange enough in my opinion. Still the work looked good.
The squirrel was exceptional. The facial features were good and solid and the tail was done extremely well. My only question, and it's nitpicking, was why you chose to bend the tail that way. Gray squirrels on a tree usually have the classic "S" fold of the tail or a distended lazy "s" in line with their bodies for balance. I've seen grays just like your pose, however, when they were chattering at each other among the trees. This was really a good and clean looking job.
George is right on the money with his comments. The fins on the perch looked a bit too thick and painted. Otherwise the fish looks very nice.
The squirrel looks real nice and has a lot of details which I like. I am not so concerned about the way the squirrel is holding its tail as it seems to give the mount an overall interesting look because of it. Nice work.
As a collector the squirrel looks fantastic. The face looks perfect and I like the bushy tail. The fish needs work and I would take more pictures of a yellow perch to compare and you will see the highlights are missing. Also I give you credit for showing your work. You will be very good if you listen to the experts on here.
Thanks for the comments guys! George, I bent the tail like that simply because when I was toying with it, the pose made it fluff out like that, so I kept it the way it was...
Also I'm not really a 'beginner', I'm more of a 'returner' Those two are the first two mounts I've done recently. I did taxi quite often as a hobby up until about 4 years ago when I was forced to quit due to demands from school and work, but now I've been having more time on my hands, and realizing I don't want stuck in my dead end job, so I figured why not get back into what I used to love. Some veterans may remember me as "Mammalspec" from the old chat room! I know George has to remember me...
For refresher mounts I feel they turned out OK. I am not 100% pleased with the fish, but the squirrel is one of my best ever. I just wanted some opinions from you folks on the mounts.
Once again, thanks for the comments and emails, I really appreciate it!
