Ear liner and epoxie

Submitted by Joe V. on 07/26/2004 at 14:57. ( ) 63.241.157.113

Hi all,

I like to use 5 min. two part epoxies to glue in ear liners. My question is when using this type of glue should I make sure there isn't a lot of slack in the ear? If there is slack and it glues tight as epoxy does the wrinkles will be there forever regardless of drying. Right or wrong?

Thanks
Joe V.

Absolutely right

That's why it's imperative that you use a liner that fits instead of "almost fits".

Adhesive Idea

Joe,
epoxie adhesives are fantastic and hold great on any job. I don't have a response to your original question, but a suggestion if the epoxie's don't work out for you.

I use "Real Ears" by Tecnaglue for my earliner adhesive. It's an pink colored adhesive that allows ample working time and blends the perfect pinkish tone to the inner...eliminating any finishing work on the inner ear (painting that is).

Look into it should you need further reference.

You can find it at WASCO and McKenzie art supply

Epo-Grip

Use the best earliner that fits, and the best adhesive made. That would be Epo-Grip. You can also color Epo-Grip too. Once it grabs its there, so make sure your adjustments are made quickly. You want some slack, but not too loose. The skin should fall into place if it fits right.

I have yet to figure out why any one would use ear liners, not that there is any thing wrong with plastic ears but bondo to me is the easiest and best way to get the natural ear of the deer you are mounting,I would think no two deer have the same ear. I guess what ever works for you best and you feel comfortable with.
