Goose Wings

I have mounted 6 ducks and was going to try a canadian goose. My buddy gave it to me to practice on. As I skinned it out I noticed he had gutshot it bad. It had a hole about the size of a softball back by his hind leg. Well, it was a mess inside. I decided not to mount it but to go ahead and get the practice skinning the bird out. When I skinned out the wings and inverted them to get the meat off, I then turned it right side out. The primaries seperated. The individual strands that make up the primary feathers had seperated like someone ran againts the grain of the feather. My question is---Once I put that in the tumbler would that reset them to original state? Thx Eddie

Thats why you should replace the meat with Apoxie, Critter Clay or even latex caulk. The card the wings with the feathers arranged properly. Card them heavily and support them with wires taped along the top side to hold them until the meat medium hardens. You close the gaps in the feathers by running your fingers down the edges.
