whitetail hooves

I was wanting to know if you have to preserve the hooves on a whitetail leg when you do gun rack mount, and if so what do you use? Thanks

Make sure you get all of the flesh out of them. Then either tan them or simly a good dousing of Dry Preservative will do the trick
