Ive been told that foxes are notorious for hair slippage. Ive taken my first fox in to do for $$. I would really like to do a great job on this mount, I have a lot of critical people around here. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You can thaw it in a acid pickle bath and then skin it. That way the bacteria is killed before you start. Be careful when skinning and turning the ears. They are notorius for slipping. The heat from your hands will cause slippage on the ears. I had trouble with my first fox slipping on the ears and the muzzle. Other than that it turned out awesome. These areas can be fixed if it is not to bad.

BUT, I've never tried it either so I won't say it doesn't work. That's why I order the form and don't touch them until the form arrives. Then I skin them, wash them in denatured alcohol, DP them and mount them all the same day. Todd's advice on the ears is paramount regardless of the method you use, however.
A fox sat at my kitchen window each morning when I awakened,[around 5 a.m ] at first I just tossed him a cookie, but the more I saw him with his endearing little face the more I took care of him, I fed him each morning toast and scrambled egg, or meat, lotsa nice food , followed by a digestive biscuit, he's been coming to me for at least 3 months and became very trusting of me , hed eat from my hands so gently and I loved him very much.I named him Francis after St. Francis of assisi.
Hes vanished, this is day 4 and not a sign of my little friend,
how sad I feel and keep awakening in the night to see if hes in the garden, but no not a trace.
could anyone tell me why foxes vanish like that please.
thankyou for responding, please don't tell me I'm nuts, perhaps I am
but feel so complimented to be trusted by a wild thing

Maybe that fox got himself shot or hit by a car
